We Head Out in Search of Costal Brown Bears

After a drive through Hoonah, we came to a bridge and stopped in the middle of the road to watch the bear in the stream. While everyone took pictures, the bear (we think it was the same bear) came up the slope and passed right behind the bus. I got a glimpse before everyone leaned out the windows trying to get a picture of him!













We drove further until we came to a site where we were drilled about what to do if we encountered a bear (don't run!) We walked along a well made wooden walkway to a total of three lookouts, spending time at each. We could see a bear off to the left at a distance, but I didn't try to get a picture. The stream in front of up was jumping with salmon, and we did spot another bald eagle in the distance. That's our guide in the red & white jacket.
