At Mendenhall Glacier We See Bears!

What a sight for someone who's never seen a glacier up close, much less bears in the wild! When we arrived, the tour guide suggested we go to see the salmon in the stream as it wasn't crowded at the moment. It was our first sighting, so it was exciting to see them clearly in the water below, 3-4 of them together at a time. What we later heard we'd just missed, further up the path, was a bear eating salmon! We saw the remainder of his meal, and as we began to walk out to go to the glacier, we saw someone beckoning to the gard rail. There below was another bear walking through the stream! What a thrill! You may be able to read about the bears in this area if you double click on the bear sign.
